The California state government has grown 90% since Covid, triple the cumulative inflation, with the same growth in taxes. Many of those tax increases are regressive and are most harmful to the lower income part of the middle class. This all while the Democratic party has controlled the state for 20 years. This is the election year when the voters have the best chance in years to balance the state, reject the many proposed new taxes and tax increases, and take back control of their state government. As part of a statewide effort, I am campaigning to stop tax increases, add a few non-Democratic party candidates into office, and re-establish election integrity with the California version of Voter ID. I go further. I can document exactly how we can eliminate the gas excise tax and the diesel excise tax. They have both tripled in nine years, the rates automatically increase each (COLA style) without a vote by the legislature or the people, and they are used for many things other than the longterm purpose of road repair. We need to stop those taxes and leave more money in the pockets of Californians, especially those struggling to pay rent and living costs.
90% growth in taxes since Covid has made California a difficult place to live for many people. On this year's ballot, there are many proposed tax increases. We must block them. We must also reduce or elminiate regressive taxes where possible. I will show it possible to eliminate the gas tax and the diesel tax. I will point out a longer term process by which the need for school bonds can be eliminated, another regressive tax that leads to unequal opportunities for our children.
